A Day Beyond Boundaries: The Conn Community Launches the Defy Boundaries Campaign

FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2022

Please join President Bergeron, the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni and parents for a daylong series of events to launch the Defy Boundaries Campaign and commemorate a campaign milestone: The opening of the magnificent Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium.

12 p.m.

Community Campaign Launch

Tent on Tempel Green

You’ll connect with friends and colleagues at this fun and festive gathering, featuring food and drink by Gourmet Galley. And don’t forget the sweet treats. These five dessert food trucks will be stationed around Tempel Green for all to enjoy:

  • Moon Rocks Cookies
  • Bella Cannoli Truck
  • Cinnamon Churros
  • Ice Cream Emergency!
  • The Walsh Waffle Wagon

College leaders will share how the Campaign is already making a difference by strengthening Conn as a leader in 21st-century liberal arts education.

There will be a signing of the Covenant of Shared Governance at 12:30 p.m.


1:30 – 3 p.m.

Community Guided Tours of the Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium

Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium, Tempel Green Entrance

Led by arts students, faculty and staff, these tours will provide a behind-the-scenes look at our beautifully renovated facility and allow you to see firsthand how the quality of this renovation is elevating the arts experience at Conn.


8:00 p.m.

Performance Unbound: A Community Celebration of the Performing Arts at Connecticut College

Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium

The evening concludes with a genre-defying event, featuring talented alumni and student artists presenting an inspiring range of dance, theater and musical works.

Featured performances include actor and theatre artist Malik Work ’98; dance artist Aaron Samuel Davis ’14; soprano Stephanie Foster ’18; selections from the Dance Senior Capstone; choral performances by Camerata; and numbers from this year’s musical theater production, Cabaret.


10 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Defy Boundaries Student Celebration

Tent on Tempel Green

You are invited to the Tent on Tempel Green for a student celebration that will include live music by several student bands and food and drink provided by the Craft Bird Food Truck.
